scale arises simply from the desire to include as many chords as possible into an interval that can be played with one hand.

What does this mean?

why playing scale makes you possible to play as many chords as possible?

btw, why do we need to practice scale any way?

There are too many reasons to list here; for more info, go to my link below and click on section III.5.  But here is a general orientation for you.  Music is made up of sections, and each section is written in one type of scale or chord; IOW, music is a series of chord progressions. Within each such section, you mostly need only the notes and fingerings of that scale that produces those chords. Music is like a journey. Suppose you want to travel around the world.  Each country is like a scale; if you know the language, customs, geography, etc., you are familiar with the "scale" of that country. Now if you practiced and are familiar with the "scale" of every country, then you can travel anywhere you want with much less difficulty than if you only spoke English and lived in Endicott, NY, all your life.
