I want more energy.

How can I rest better?

I have to work quite a bit at keeping good sleep habits... Can't keep consistancy for too long. some random thoughts:

Regular exercise definitely helps with energy. When the blood's flowing ya got no choice but to have energy.

Conciously deciding when it's time for sleep, then doing it. A lot of the time I'll get reading a book, or something interesting on the net and wind up staying up until 4AM. Some people seem to be natural night-owls too. I can be tired all day, then suddenly alive at 9PM.

Socrates is the cure for insomnia.

Too much work at an uninteresting job (every job I've ever known...) drains energy and erodes the spirit. I've been through it, and see it everywhere around me. I consider work the greatest enemy to my dreams, but it's unavoidable.

So it's becoming clear to me how much of having energy is in the mind. Unless you're malnourished and atrophied your body has enough energy to get anything done. It's the will, I'm sure you can think of times where you've been enthusiastic - when energy is not even a consideration, most boundaries dissolve actually. There are ways to become enthused on the inside (dream), and also to control environmental factors... Like I said about work, having to spend all your time obligated to things you don't want to do will kill your spirit.

true, this happens to be throughout school or other things i'm forced to do which bore/irritate me to tears (well, i'm not that bad lol).  Even sometimes when piano practising isn't going well, i can feel a loss of energy, but when i change to a piece I know will make me feel fulfilled, I'm able to regain that energy.  Possibly, instead of trying to get more sleep, find something you enjoy doing more, to give you an extra reason to get up in the mornings.  I'm not sure really, but I generally am not able to sleep past 8 hours, even when feeling utterly drained, so it might be down to other psychological factors as well.  Not sure if this helps :-\
