Other "great moments"
on: February 27, 2006, 08:21:13 AM
I looked for the other "great moments in music" topic but couldn't find it (if there was one), so here are some that I particularly enjoy other than the ones from Mahler. How about you guys?

Beet PC 4, 1st mvmt, recapitulation of the theme
Scriabin PC, final climax at around 10 minutes when the key of F-sharp major is finally affirmed (10:03 in the Scherbakov version)
Busoni PC, 4th mvmt, 6:30 with the crescendo that sounds like William Tell Overture except 10^6 x better
Havergal Brian's Gothic Symphony (#1), first chorus entrance in Te Deum Laudamus - sounds like angels gliding down from heaven.
The last four minutes of Walton's Belshazzar's Feast - I sang this work with my school chorus and this part was one of the most exhilarating experiences I've ever had.
Second theme from Rach Symphony #2, second movement
