The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. "Amoroso" from Cinderella suite
on: February 28, 2006, 03:38:09 AM
I saw an amazing concert last night, excerpts from prokofiev's Cinderella Suites. Nothing sounds like prokofiev...his giant soaring melodies, and became a Romantique when he soften up. And the heavy use of basson,...i love it. I'm looking for a recording of the Cinderella Suites, any recommandations?  btw, where can i find the movement "Amoroso" ? it's the one that left me without breath!

Frederic Chiu has recorded the two piano arranges of portions of Cinderella, Op. 95 (Three Pieces for Piano) and Op. 97 (Ten Pieces for Piano) on "Classical Express," the budget label of Harmonia Mundi.  I'm sure you can find it on Amazon.

I'm not sure whether Amoroso is among these excerpts from Cinderella, but the recording in wonderful and highly recommended.
