Arpeggios
on: March 01, 2006, 08:45:19 PM
I really like the Hannon 60 exercises book and think it's done the most for improving my skills, fingering and scales. Is there a similar book someone could recommend for practing arpeggios?
I could really use the help.
Thanks in advance!!

Generally any scale book gives you arpeggios that you can work on, and they usually give them to you in the root, first, and second inversions. If you want to get creative you can come up with your own routines to practicing arpeggios. If you're advanced enough, Chopin's Etude Op. 10 No. 1 and Etude Op. 25 No. 12 focus on arpeggios. They may be difficult, but with enough practice, you could probably get it. Czerny wrote many exercises. I'm sure he has some that deal with arpeggios. I know of a couple in his School of Velocity. Hope this helps.

Invention 13 deals with arpeggios, and perfect for the beginner / intermediate.

Thank you everyone. I'm not new to the piano, instead I have some bad practicing / fingering skills that my piano teacher is helping me with. Surprisingly my piano playing has improved 10 folds since I got a piano teacher.
In any event, I found out the Hannon book I have has arpeggios in it to practice! Playing Chopin would be a goal to acheive one day; right now I need to work on the
very
basics.
Thank you everyone for your advice! This Forum is more informative than anything I've found.
