What should I play next
on: March 06, 2006, 06:26:14 PM
After a break for 6 years I am starting to play piano again. The last piece I mastered was "Wedding day on Troldhaugen" by Edward Grieg. I think this piece is a good indication of what level I`m on (I have been informed that wedding day is grade-8, no idea what that means) I also played stuff like "ballad of revolt" by Harald Sæverud.
I have spend some time repeating stuff I have done earlier, but now I want to start on a new piece. I want to play "fantasie impromptu" by Chopin some time in my life, but maybe this is yet too diffucult? How could I prepare myself for this one? Any other Chopin that would be a reachable step forward? Suggest other composers also.
I have played piano from I was 6 till I was 16.

Maybe one of his easier etudes? Op 25 # 1 maybe...
Give fantaisie Impromptu a shot, it's very repetitive, and once you have the basic technique down for it, the rest will come easier than you think.
