My favourite painter is John William Waterhouse. You can see some of his paintings
here
. He painted a lot of mythological scenes and characters. I love his art.
My other two favourites are Van Gogh and Dali. I love their individual ways of seeing the world.

I can't really say I have a favorite one, but have you seen Mendelssohn's water colors? They are really impressive. Watercolors are hard to control.

schonberg was a painter of note, and richter had lessons. debussy claimed to prefer the company of artists to that of musicians.
matisse was a dedicated violinist. his magnificent picture 'the piano lesson' is one of my favourites, and shows his son playing haydn on a pleyel grand, with a garden view behind. he also made a portait drawing of cortot. the companion painting to his 'la danse' is 'la musique' and considered on of the seminal works of early modernism.
