Lumbrical and Interossei muscles of the hand
on: March 13, 2006, 07:44:12 PM
I've read about playing piano with these muscles, but have no idea what they were until I viewed this video below.

https://www.dartmouth.edu/~anatomy/wrist-hand/video/extensor6.html

so anyone can verify if we indeed should learn to utilise these muscles for playing piano?

You dont need to read medical books to play the piano, but if you like reading, read alternative medicine, like pressure points , healing, spirit, magic potion, healthy mind, food, therapy, YOga. etc etc. You dont need to look at blood and all those things.

    Just trying to help. :)

Hi,

I don't think you are right, zheer, at least the fundamental principles of anatomy and the universal functions of the muscle-joint-komplex and so on are important to know for all who want to improve their abilities of body-movement in some way, and therefore pianists too. All other more or less para- or pseudo-scientific ways are additionally and can surely be very helpfully but also useless or dangerous.

Greetings
Hans
