The complete Idiot’s guide to music theory
on: March 21, 2006, 03:09:11 PM

I am looking for a music theory book.  I had one class back in high school over 15 years ago.  But I can still read music and everything, but I am looking to go a little farther.
Is this book at my level, or will it be just a review?

Hmmm. If other books in the "idiots guide" series have worked for you, then this might also. Usually I find them a little off-putting.  I don't like authors assuming I'm an idiot right off....must be my huge ego  ;)

Try this on: "Harmony" by Walter Piston.

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

“He has everything and more – tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that,” as Martha Argerich once said of Daniil Trifonov. To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31. Piano Street’s members are invited to watch the livestream. Read more
