Ithaca College?
on: March 25, 2006, 11:31:07 PM
I will be graduating from college within a few months - not as a professional musician, but I study piano as a hobby.  I've received a job offer at a company near Binghamton NY and I'm considering moving to the area.  One of the things I'm looking at is the availability of colleges with good music programs nearby so that I can continue taking lessons in my spare time.  Does anyone know anything about Ithaca College, specifically whether they offer private lessons, if the teachers there are good, the availability of pianos and practice facilities, etc?  I plan on contacting them directly in the near future, but any information would be helpful at the moment.  Anything related to the Baltimore area would also be useful.

Thanks,
florestan9

I don't really know specifics about private lessons, but Ithaca College is known to be a really good music school in the area. I would imagine that they have decent facilities. Check out the website: https://www.ithaca.edu/. Maybe contact the music department with your specific questions.

You might also want to think about SUNY Binghamton. I know they offer some sort of music program, so they would probably have music facilities.

I live about an hour from IC and I know people who go there and have attended a summer piano program there. The faculty there is amazing, and you can get lessons with them fairly easily if you just contact them. The facilities are nice, but the practice rooms are reserved for their students most of the time.
