Do you mean for Clarinet VIOLA and Piano? I did that piece years ago, a couple of friends and I performed almost the entire repertoire for that combination of instruments. With the Mozart "Kegelstadt" (sp?) Trio and some pieces by Max Bruch it's the most important piece for that combination. Let's see, the first piece has a light stacatto piano accompaniment while the clarinet and viola intertwine together in a very chromatic melody, key of Bb; the second piece is very strange, a repeated quarter note ostinato juxtaposed between the instruments, a kind of canon I think. The 3rd movement is in G major, one of the best pieces Schumann wrote IMO, the accompaniment figure in the piano is a melody of it's own, working around the other instruments. Key of G Major. The llast mvt. is a Schumann march in Bb, some tough octaves in there, careful not to drown the other people out!  This was one of the most enjoyable chamber music experiences I ever had...

Yes that's the one! The recording I have of it uses a cello in place of a viola instead though. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.

The 3rd movement so DOES totally rock! But I admit to loving the 2nd, it's indeed weird but then so am I.
