Single Movements

Might be a stupid question, but is it acceptable to perform just the single slow movement of a Mozart sonata instead of the whole sonata? The Mozart slow movements seem to be considered very difficult, so this seems OK to me, but just checking.

In a competition: NO.

But otherwise, it's perfectly ok. It's your concert.

for what occasion/purpose?

interesting question, because i love certain movements of some sonatas, like by medtner for example, but wouldnt want to do the whole thing.

ive seen that it IS acceptable for the alkan sonata, some people just play the 2nd mvt alone, and some the 1st alone(libetta notably)

they work great by themselves...and althought its better to have them all, single movements fit better in some programs...i see nothing wrong with it.

well mainly for competitions, but on a small scale.  Im talking about the ''larger'' slow movements eg. K.457

Whenever you listen to classical music stations they only ever play single movements :)
