controversial in what way?  because it is about homosexuality?  I thought that got over its controversy a while ago, and it isn't such a hotbutton issue as it used to be, although granted people are still divided about it...but more about legality than propriety

but it brings up an interesting question: should musicians stay out of politics and the like, or should they use their status to their advantage?  I say power to him as long as he doesn't go do something stupid as a result of it.
