For any flute player - changing notes
on: April 16, 2006, 06:37:49 PM
My aunt let me borrow her daughter's flute last night. (She never plays it anymore) I've managed to make one note, just blowing in without covering any holes. They had a flute book, but it was level 2 and didn't really help. Whenever I try to make the note higher or lower (not sure if some holes go higher or lower than just blowing in) by pressing down one of the clicky-thingies to cover a hole, nothing happens. I've tried covering several holes at once, but still nothing happens. I tried asking my cousin but she claimed doesn't remeber how to change notes. ::) (the frequency of the pitch)

So, any help at all on how to change the note would be appreciated.

P.S. Yes, I assembled the flute correctly.

Check the fingering chart in the back of the book?  Even Level 2 should have one.

what do you mean nothing happens? do you mean you're not getting a sound at all, or the note is the same? cos you have to press the little random non-circular things as well in the right combinations. randomly, my uni has a virtual flute, i don't understand this page at all, but if you wanna check out something random...

my friend's teaching me the flute, had one lesson, and she basically watched me blow uselessly for like 15 minutes not getting much of a sound, then i gave up. then practiced at home and got a decent sound after like 5 minutes and was like SWEET!! and woohoo mary had a little lamb (Haha i nearly wrote 'limb') is coming out!!
