Need advice for digital piano
on: April 17, 2006, 11:18:37 PM
Hello,

I have allready an acoustic upright piano and I am very happy with it. The problem is my mother moved house (how do you say that in english  :D). So I am there for a week and than here etc. So I can't play the whole week when I am with my mother. I am sure you get the problem  :D So I need advice for a good digital piano. But for not to much....lets say €300-€350...that is euhm...$380 I think....I don't need all the extra's. Only 7 octaves, a pedal and weighted keys  :D Just to practise....

Thanks...

You would be hard pressed to find a quality digi-piano at that price that has the features you are asking for. A casio may come close but after getting used to the Yamaha weighted keys, the Casio's seems light to my taste. You may want light action, though...
Maybe you can come across a used Yamaha P-60 around 350 - 400 Euros if you get lucky.
Best of luck,

Ron

go to a big pianoseller and try out the digital pianos.  :) Most people prefer the yamaha clavinova series though because of their great piano samples and touch. Might be hard to get a piano in your price range. You might concider to extend it. It is an investment in your future and you'll be disappointed quickly if you buy a low quality digital piano.

I think I go for the Casio PX–100...I have an offer for a new one for 400 euro's...Do you think thats a good deal? I red some posts here about this casio and it seems to be pretty good. I can't spend much more because we have allready a piano...so... :)

i'd get the yamaha p60 if i were you. more importantly dont rush it!
go to a store and play some Dig, pianos. the difference between their action and sounds etc is a world apart, it's really worth your while to buy wisely, ie. to go and find out what you like for yourself.

I bought the Yamaha because my wife liked the key feel better, but the Casio seemed about the same to me.  For casual use either would probably serve as long as the keys are weighted.  I'm not even sure you need 88, I know I've never used them all <g> but most of the weighted key models do seem to have all 88.  .

BTW, if you buy a digital piano, also pay attention to next 2 things:

1: Dont be emberrased, and move that volume thing up! Only then you get the good sound.
2: Also ask for a good headphone when youre testing the piano's. You'll probably have to use them alot and the sound often differs alot.

your budget doesn't allow you to buy anything new that you would want to play on. you get alot more for your money if you get closer to $1k. You might try used keyboards, like a used yamaha or something.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
