Hi. I cannot play the piano, but I love it's sound. I have been listening to Piano Music for about 10 years now, I am 18.

I love soft opus' , although I enjoy works such as Sonata 14's 3rd movement by Beethoven and Rach's 2nd, I rather soft works. I have quite a few already, a few of beethoven, chopin, etc....I feel very disorganized, they are just too many out in the world, and to listen to everyone of them is too much.

I want your help!

Please, modern or old, list the piece that touches you the most.

In modern enjoy the Clubbed to death piano part by Rob Dougan, ludovico einaudi - le onde,  The Heart Asks Pleasure First - Michael Nyman.

Thank you for any addition on your behalf!

Please, modern or old, list the piece that touches you the most.

I love pieces that start off beautiful and slow, and become very fast and furious, those are my favorite to play. Example: Liszt "Un Sospiro" and Rachmaninoff "Prelude in C#".

Rachmaninoff Prelude op 32, #13, very beautiful piece.

Also his etude tableau op 39 #7... kinda depressing, but the climax is breathtaking
Interested in discussing:

-Prokofiev Toccata
-Scriabin Sonata 2

I suggest you get the complete Nocturnes by Chopin. You will probably love them.

Modern? Hmm, I love Yann Tiersen's works... they're beautiful. Not anything too difficult, but they're great.

I second Yann Tiersen. How about Philip Glass, too? My favorite from him is The Hours soundtrack.

Currently I am working on Scriabin's 32nd Opus, No. 1. The descending crescendos in that piece = perfection. The buildup, if played properly, is perfect.

And if you want something more modern, you could listen to the two Feuillet D'Album pieces by Scriabin. Those would be Op. 45, No. 3, and Op. 58, No. 1.

And if you don't like Scriabin so much, you could also listen to Brahms' intermezzos (Op. 117). My favorite of those is number 2.

Yann Tiersen is indeed awesome, I've been into him for about 2 years now.

Ravel Piano Concerto in G major 2nd movement
I second the second:) movement of Beethoven 'Appassionata' Piano Sonata no.23
Rachmaninoff Etude-Tableau op.33no.8(or 7 depending on the edition)
Scriabin Etude op.42 no.5( not soft, but not too loud, 'cept the near end).
Chopin Prelude in Ab major(I think)
Ravel Jeau D'eau
Ravel Gaspard de la Nuit 'Ondine'
Liszt Piano Concerto no.2 in A major (better than no.1 imo)
Rachmaninoff Prelude op.23 no.1,2,4 ,6,8,9,10 op.32 no.5, 11(relatively haha) 12(excpet for some parts)
Liszt Consolations, all of them
These are all I can think of atm.

That's the price you pay for being moderate in everything.  See, if I were you, my name would be Ilovepie.  But that's just me.

Piano Street Magazine:
Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
