Electronic Keyboard Suggestions
on: April 25, 2006, 11:17:42 AM
Hello, my name is Leo and any help that anybody can offer me would be greatly appreciate it. I'm looking for an affordable, realistic sounding electronic keyboard. I don't want nor care for any of the extra stuff such as: midi capabilities, built in hardrive, songs etc....

AS long as it has 88 touch sensitive keys, realistic (or as close to it as possible) sound, and a sustain pedal I'll be happy :)

Any suggestion would be very helpful, so far I have come across a couple of promising keyboards such as the yamaha p70(formerly p60) and the casio px100. I don't want to break the bank, 600 or 700 bucks tops.

Thank you in advance for any feedback

Leo

I have a Yamaha P60. It love it to bits.

However, try to find a shop where you can try out the keys yourself. The touch on different digitals -- even from the same brand -- can very greatly. I had my eyes set on the P90, but at the store, its action felt stiff. So go try them out for youself if you can.

I would go with the P70 over the Casios anyday, IMHO.
sometimes, music stores may have a sale on the P-90 (which I have) and that would be the one to get. Although, if you go with the P-90, either you have to buy a powered speaker setup or use headphones.

Listen.  If you want a good electric piano then you must stick with these three brands.  Roland; Yamaha; & Kawai.  I personally wouldd pick Roland and Kawai over Y any day.  But you are not going to get a great piano for less than 1200.  But I believe Kawai and roland are going to have what you are wanting looking for.

Yeah, the Yamaha P's are better than any of the others in the same range.

I think you need external speakers for the p70.  Yamaha makes some pretty cheap ones that come with a little subwoofer and sound great.
