How famous is this guy?

Familiar with the work of Craig Sheppard?  Piano professor at UW in Seattle.  Has made many recordings, but is his name instantly recognizable?  On your short list of great living pianists?

TIA

Judging by 43 views and no replies, I'd say he's somewhat obscure...  :P
Fortune favours the musical.

Which doesn't mean he is not a wonderful pianist. There are so many really wonderful musicans out there, who just haven't entered that top echelon of performing artists. They usually teach at the university level, perform locally, record for smaller labels. They have their fans, those people who have had the rare opportunity to hear them perform, usually in smaller venues. They are those wondrous human beings who keep the music alive and pass it on to the next generation.

there are international pianists, national pianists, and then more city-based pianists. like generally, i think most people from other countries wouldn't be terribly familiar with australian pianists, eg. head of unsw school of music christine logan, and she's the bomb of a pianist. and likewise, i have no idea what american pianists are out there that aren't internationally famous. or tim hofman. he is a truly great pianist, yet nobody here has heard of him  ;) poor pianists, neglected by the rest of the world!

I had a masterclass with him once.

In a controverisal decision,  he received 2nd and Perrahia 1st in Leeds. His path could have been very different had he won that competition.

generally working on:
Bach Toccata in g minor
Rachmaninoff 3rd Concerto

he may or may not. life after the win is the real test, as its not only hard but you are often to be compared with horowitz, argerich, and what not.

didnt he get quite a bit of concert engagements after winning 2nd prize at leeds? i never heard him play, but i heard he is a pianist with stunning technique.
