Any rock climbers around ?
on: December 04, 2003, 01:13:54 PM
Besides trying to play piano, I am also  rock-climbing. Anyone else au "au bout des doigts" ?

How does it combine with playing ? I suspect it might
thicken your fingers. Does make them very strong though (might prevent injuries.....).

Rock climber here :)

You'll get thicker fingers only if you do a lot of jamming ;D Rock climbing will help prevent getting injured from playing the piano, provided you don't get injured from rock climbing in the first place  ;D

I was, for a long time very very seriously into bouldering. I developed a number of bouldering sites near Sqamish B.C.

I cragged for a number of years, but bouldering was just to much fun...

Where do you climb??

Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
