Washing your hands after playing?

This might be a weird question, but my mom has been bothering me about it a lot lately. I don't know if I should believe her or not, but she says that it is very bad for my hands and wrists to wash my hands right after practicing. I have never believed her when she was telling me, but after all this time she finally got to me :p. When I think of it, if it is true, it can have serious consequences(sp.?). The reason I don't believe her is because she says a lot of things that aren't true:).

Sorry never heard that one.  I would think washing your hands would be a good thing though ...

In extreme excess, there could be irritating dermatological reactions, otherwise there seems to be no basis for this. Often I find after extended practicing my hands NEED to be washed, you know. Another side note, in winter, its helpful to soak in warm/hot water before practicing, I find being out in the cold for extended periods sort of freezes my hands stiff.

Maybe you should wipe down your piano with alcohol wipes
