i saw that, too.  very interesting.  can't relate to other humans - but he can speak 'grizzly.'  but, i think he was killed in the end by a grizzly, even though he was very aware of how they thought and how close he came to them normally.  that's what distinguishes a wild animal from a tame, i guess.  unpredictability.

avocados on the crackers or with the crackers?  either way - i'm not into avocados so you can have more.  do you have cheese?  if not, i'll bring some.  as long as you promise not to slap me around.  (*slight fear of you mayla).  where's bob.  he'll be my cover.  whenever you raise your hands above the waist (to avoid germs) - i'll hide behind bob.

hmmm... well, they just got to the part where it talks about Timmy dying.. and how they took 4 garbage bags of people (Timmy's girlfriend, too) out of the bear  :-[.

Anywho, I am dipping my crackers into the avocado, so the avocado ends up being right on top of the cracker... pretty great (with a little salt and pepper).  I have some sort of expensive Bree type of cheese... super yummy.  But, not very much (Bob is eating most of it  ;D) so you might want to bring some more cheese with you, pianisitimo.

Oh, and would you be so kind as to bring some strawberry soda with you ?  I just love strawberry soda (I will take grape if you can't find strawberry (but it's not quite as good)).

Thanks  :)

Wow, a bear ate a man and his girlfriend? He must have been super jealous...

Why not put some of that Brie into a baguette with some bacon and heat it up, with some avocado sauce! Then you know you're in heaven...

Now that's something worth doing !

Okay, just had to report, there are now 2 red foxes sitting on his tent and camp area.  This is now 2 of my animals... what next ?

1.  Bear
2.  Fox

3.  Tiger
4.  Dragon
5.  Turtle/Tortoise

Somehow I doubt the last 3 are going to be showing up in this film.  :P

I thought this doc was quite saddening not because he died but because he seemed like quite a delluded person. The bears didnt even like him and I got the impression from the trailers that they accepted him... naive of me really considering they are wild and everything.

The only ''cool'' thing I found bout this documentary was the little wild foxes that befriended him, now they were really cool!  But Im sure he was slightly insane, and some of his ''firneds'' seemed like actors funnily enough.

I think it was good he was just trying to protect the bears, but I think in his mind he was a bigger part opf these bears lives than he was, he was sort of a gentle intruder.

Its a tragedy him and his girlfriend were killed, and one can only imagine what you can hear on that recording!

The best bit of the documentary was when his pilot friend was singing the country song ''Coyotes''... that was the first time I had heard that song and its beautiful!

My 2 pence

Anyway, I am going to stop reading this thread until I finish the movie (I actually love documentaries  :-[ ).  But feel free to type about it, since I won't be reading this thread for a while you won't spoil it for me.

i'm just here for the food.

the grizzlies cause a huge problem in anchorage (fear stricken neighborhoods) because environmentalists won't let them be shot.  so what do you do when your child has his head in a grizzlies mouth?  yell fire?

i love the environment and i love bears - but they have a place and it is not with humans.  they have to be tranquilized and shipped to the wilderness where they belong.  that's my two cents.

people say it's human's problem because they leave garbage out.  well, in anchorage most of the garbages are covered now (but they've already had a taste) and the bears STILL get into them.  they climb on top and start jumping up and down and shaking the thing around.  it would have to be under lock and key basically and a real pain to dump garbage.  plus you have to look around for the bear when you take your garbage out.

guess that it's a really big problem to keep transporting bears, but i'd do it until they got the message and stayed out of town.  i think, also, that the right to use a weapon against a grizzly as a means of defence is perfectly acceptable.  tranquilizers would be used when they are simply found - so they can be transported out.

*just realized my comment about 'just being here for the food' is the grizzlies defence too.

ps my parents have a grizzly rug (head intact) in my brother's old bedroom.  it has scared countless children because the teeth and claws look really big (and it was a small  grizzly bear).  my parents put it on the wall behind the door - so when you finally open the door all the way - the bear is right there with his big teeth.  would you sleep well in a room like that?

someone just posted something about 'sheep may safely graze.'  you can't exactly play that for a bear and expect a gentle response.  pets are always in danger outside.

It wasn't filmed, only recorded by audio?

And could a bear swallow them whole, or would it be a while munching down on them of which the surrounders would've had to watch happen?

hmmmm... well, I will reserve my comments on some of this because... well, it's grusome.

For whatever reason, the camera was running, however, the cap was still on.  Nobody except for both of them were around (nobody else "lives" there) so there were no "surrounders" anywhere near them.  And, of course a bear cannot swallow them whole... he chews them in bear-size bites -- I would bet a huge whale could though.
