Solo for Pink Floyd-Hey you
on: May 08, 2006, 04:23:41 PM
I have to perform this song together with a band at the musicexams and I need to have a solo part overlapped with the guitar. Means that we both play our solo at the same time...
The problem is now that there is allready a guitarsolo, but I need to make my own solo, so I wondered whether anyone had any ideas or examples on how I could do this?

Having 2 solos at the same time might muddy the song, unless they are orchestrated, or pre-written.  If you are both going to improvise solos at the same time, I wouldn't suggest, especially since guitar and piano are both chord instruments, so who knows who will be playing what notes, and what will clash.

I would suggest working with the guitar player on writing out solos, or soloing at different times.  He can take 16 bars, you can take 16 etc.
