Piano Notes
on: May 10, 2006, 10:30:04 AM
... by Charles Rosen. Has anyone read it? Is it any good? I was thinking of buying it, but is quite factual? Because if it is there's probably not much there that I don't already know... But if it's more anecdotal than factual I'd buy it. Wasn't Rosen's teacher's teacher Liszt, or something like that?

Anyway,  if anyone's read it I'd be interested in opinions. :)

What he said. I've got the book, and really liked it.
As for Rosen's teacher being Liszt... I don't think that he's that old.  ;)

That's what I get for reading hurriedly. :-X Okay, here goes: Rosen's teacher was Moriz Rosenthal, who did study under Liszt for like ten years. So yes, Rosen's teacher's teacher was Liszt. :) (I hope I got that right now... :-\)
