Hi,

I have to respond to this one. I have been shopping digital pianos for a couple weeks now and just bought one today. It is a Yamaha CLP115.

https://yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetail/0,6373,CNTID%253D26011%2526CTID%253D203500%2526CNTYP%253DPRODUCT%2526VNM%253DLIVE%2526AFLG%253DY,00.html

I went to a bunch of different stores and the keys on the clavinova are simply the best. I liked this one especially. They are closer to a real piano than any other I tried. And I tried Suzukis, Technics, Roland, you name it. I feel the opposite about what you just said about the keys and I personally played them all. You wont get the built in monitor for under 2k but who wants that anyway? It still has a midi in/midi out to connect with your computer.

Aesthetically it is a great furniture piece and is a nice brown wood (not like in the picture I linked, where it appears black) This one costed me $1695 Canadian so in the states its probably 1400. Try it and let me know what you decided on okay?

Good luck

I have never liked the keyboard on any Yamaha digital. Lot's of folks love them though.

For me, it's the Kawai MP9500 by a wide margin.
Everyone's different. I am the same.

I'm no professional, but I like my Yahaha P120 which is well below 2k.   Maybe this class of keyboard is a different animal than the Clavinova series - I found the qualities to be the opposite of what you describe.   It has a great feel, but the sound (due to the built in speakers) is a little lacking.    (I don't know how it would sound plugging into an external speaker though.)

I have P120 in addition to an acoustic.
P120 has a great feel, but the sound is more on the bright side (if you like mellow piano sounds).

I'd buy Yamaha P250..if I had $2000 to spare. I purchased P120 through the internet for $1200 (after trying that out in the store, of course.)
I love Chopin!

I've been window-shopping thru the net, and looks like Yamaha P-series has got good reviews for being economical yet of reasonably good quality. Never tried them though. Especially interesting is the Graded-Hammer effect that they claim they have.
Chiyo: does the "great feel" (of the keys) that you described refer to the effect ?
