library research online
on: May 12, 2006, 11:37:05 PM
many of you already know this, but for those of you who are slow (like me) to adopt internet research - try asking your local community librarian how to put your library card number into the EBSCO host (or whatever you have) under your local library name (plus .org) and then see how easy it is to read and/or download articles and read books online.  it's very cool.

haven't tried it with the uni, yet - but imagine that's more scholarly.  if you aren't attending a uni - how's a good way to get into the periodicals for exerpts or whole articles on-line?  is project gutenberg pretty much the thing?  i don't think they offer periodicals do they?

question for anyone who knows.  if you have a favorite music library that you want to get into but are not currently enrolled at the uni or have access to the library - can you pay them a fee to get a library card (even if you are not taking classes).  seems that libraries and colleges are always hurting for money.  if they don't do this - i think they should because more people would use the library.  say, julliard library.  there's probably a bunch of good stuff in there - and not everyone can afford to go or even get into julliard.  how can i access julliard's music library?
