Fazioli F308

But to play one of those without making yourself go deaf, you need to build a hall specifically designed for it, otherwise the room will shake.

But for practical home use a Steinway Model B, Hamburg, will be fine.
Fortune favours the musical.

thalbergmad--

I am sure after that piano has been subject to some work by a good technician, it will once again find its home in the concert hall.

For most of us, what we want is just a nice piano that we can be proud of, and that sounds nice.

Many of us don't need a Steinway.   And others of us couldn't get a large grand into our house or apartment.

But I guess we all can dream.

ooh! Steinway B or if space a D, a Bosendorfer halbKozertflugel and/or a Fazioli 228 would be nice - I love them all! mindue I also like the handcrafted concert series Yamaha do and they come in a bit cheaper than the above.  A piano in every room - thats my dream and a technition all to myself!

Fazioli F308

Same here my friend! Sposedly my dad used to have one, but he sold it for a 228 cos it was too big! PAH! What I would have given to play on it when he had it...

and/or a Fazioli 228 would be nice

Got one, but a new one would be nice as some notes go iffy after a while. BUT, my dad recently forked up £240 (plus travel) for a technician (methinks) to go over it completely, and it sounds GEORGEOUS now! I'm gonna go play Chopin's 6th prelude on it now as my dad's gone to get bacon... mmmm bacon...

But I would have to say that Fazioli, in my experience, make the nicest pianos in the world. And I would give away my pubes - that's right, my pubes - for a 308.

I went to Steinway Hall in NY and played about 20 Steinway Grand Pianos, I was in heaven. The power of the bass and the bright beautiful tone of the treble. I must of been there for about 3-1/2 hours. The next time I go back, I will be buying one.

My dream piano is definitely a Steinway. Unless my dream of going to an Ivy League school and becoming a doctor becomes true one day, I won't be playing on a Steinway any time soon.  :'(

...it's probably safe to say that, at least at some stage in our life, we dream of owning the Steinway D...and quite rightly so I guess - there's a different aura when an artist plays on a Steinway [whether I'll ever become an artist is another matter ;D]

In reality, I'd love an EX Shigeru Kawai ^^ I have played on pretty much all the Shigeru variants except this concert one >:(

Would you recommend buying an F308 over an F228 if I plan to have a large enough house lol?

Well... if your "piano room" gets so big, there's a limit after which only a concert-sized instrument will do.

i have lost interest in bosendorfers and the larger scale pianos.  i used to think 'what a dream.'  in reality, i think they're probably a nightmare.  just my own opinion of course.

somehow a seven footer sounds better now than a nine footer.  they don't have the sound that i was imagining.  a steinway B or C but not a D for me.  or, petrov?  i haven't played that many - but i liked the warm sounds from one in particular.  in any case, they are going to be brand new and not re-sell if i can help it.

Steingraeber 230.  Hopefully one day they will design it.

I would also love an Estonia 227, which hopefully also one day will be designed (and unlike the Steingraeber, I may be able to afford!)

Among real pianos, I like the Steingraeber 272, although of course it would be impractical in my home.

Steinway only in nightmares.   ;)

Since these two pianos are not yet designed/built, what if...

What if Steingräber's 7-footer ended up being like Estonia's 7-footer you imagine would be, and vice versa? ;D

I was semi-joking with this post, since an acoustic piano with that many keys would require 700-800 strings..!
This keyboard facilitates microtonal tunings up to 55 notes per octave.
It may look impossible to play, but the fingering is the same for every scale.
Check out www.cortex-design.com/project-terpstra-prototype.htm to see other pictures which show the layout more clearly.

I've seen this site before, but I've never heard one of these instruments, nor have I heard any reports on them. I would be interested to do so, not unnaturally. In the meantime, a modern Bösendorfer 290 looked after by a first class technician would do very nicely, thank you!

I saw the most gorgeous piano at a store.  Unfortunately it was $200,000+ so I don't think I'll ever have it...
It was a pretty golden brown colour and it looked almost as much like a wooden scuplture as a piano, there were plants and fruits carved into the wood.  And it was SO shiny~
