Recording on a budget?
on: May 22, 2006, 10:45:50 PM
I would like to post some recordings, but I have neither a piano nor equipment.  I have a low-end keyboard (it doesn't even have weighted keys, but you can kind of bring some dynamics out), and I don't know of a good, efficient way of recording pieces without having to go to a studio and forking over tons of money.  Any solutions/equipment suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Nowadays pianos are given away, and they are not necessarily so bad. Why not start there? If you're handy, you'll even be able to make some repair. Check this for complete self-help:

Next, you'd need microphones with the appropriate technical specifications. When recording a piano, you need a microphone which is good at capturing the bass frequencies. When looking at mics, notice the "frequency respons". If it's 20Hz-20.000Hz, that's very good.
