German national anthem... a sheet music request
on: May 23, 2006, 07:28:36 PM
Hi, I've been asked to play on some navy boat on Friday week and they want me to play our home national anthem (UK, which I know, so don't worry about that) and, because there's going to be German visitors, I need also to play the German National Anthem :-\

If anyone knows where on the internet I could find some of this music... even if its just the tune with chords or just a recording so I could work it out by ear, I would greatly appreciate it :)

Also... any links to nautical based sheet music would be helpful too 8)

Ah the things I do to make money out of playing the piano... good craic though!

Cheers

Jason

Hm, I cannot help you by finding the sheet music, I just want to point out that the german national anthem is not called "Deutschland über Alles" ("Germany above everything"), but "Das Lied der Deutschen" ("The song of the Germans"). After WWII the first two verses of the song are not used anymore, the german national anthem consitst of the 3rd verse of the song only.

Sorry for not being helpful...  :-[

Hello  jason2711  ...
I study in Germany and only want to add, that the verse "Germany above everything" is forbidden, because it was Hitlers favourite verse in the not  censored national hymne!
It would be better not to mention this sentence....

I'm very sorry but I have no link that could help you with the scores:( :( :-\

The music is in just about nay Hymnal as "Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken."  The tune is named "Austria."  If you can read a *.nwc file, the score is here.  And a midi.
