Concerti
on: May 28, 2006, 02:46:08 PM
I have narrowed my search for a concerto at my level down to these two.  Which one do you like better?  My teacher is leaving this up to me, and I can't choose!

Which one is harder technically? Interpratively?

Thanks?

I've never been a "Ravel fan", neither actually heard his Concerto you have in mind, but I do know the Mendelssohn is a great listening :) Knowing what to expect from someone such as Ravel (his style of music), I would naturally ask ya to go for the Mendelssohn based on me taste!

Soz I can't be of much further help!

I like the Ravel!!! The Mendelssohn d minor is my favorite of his 2 concerti. Both have difficult demands, but it is worth the work.

The Ravel Concertos are actually quite different from regular Ravel - If you like jazz, go for the Ravel!

I love both, but I believe the Mendelssohn is definitely easier.

consider mendelssohn's rondo brillant in e flat major. this, along with his other piano/orch pieces, is very good. the mendelssohn d minor and a minor concertos are also very good.
