"Pathetique", Mov. 3...
on: June 01, 2006, 02:57:51 PM
Is the best music ever written for solo piano.  There is no contest.

It also makes Beethoven the best composer for solo piano, and makes anyone who plays it the best solo piano player.  I ditched my hot prom date to play this on the Steinway at the country club.  It is the only music that has made me feel warm inside.

why didn't you bring your prom date with u?  what is she doing now, i wonder?  well, if u tried to make up now it would only give you inspiration to go back to the beethoven and have a little bit of an idea how to play that last movement.  as they say, 'fury has no...'  (can't remember the rest).

it's the only time american girls really dress up and guys really treat them well (or are supposed to).  opening the door, doing things they're supposed to do all year round.

my brother, on the other hand, decided to make his prom funny and gave a completely dead corsage sprayed with a horrible smell to his prom date before giving her the real corsage.  she and he were kind of like bro and sis - so i think she politely put it on her wrist and showed it to her parents.

She's not too into Classical, but man did I draw a crowd playing that on the Steinway!

The highlight on the evening is when she asked, "Why did you ditch me for a piano?", upon which I answered, "well, the piano and I can make sweet music together!"

I, of course, don't think it's the best piece ever, but it's marvelous, definitely one of my favorite rondos, and underplayed compared to others like Turkish March, etc.

LOL  ;D

Yeah, it's a neat piece. I think beethoven has better but I like this one a lot and I'm looking forward to playing it (and the entire pathetique)

I like the piece, but I knid of have an aversion to it since I butchered it in a recital last year.
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Paraphrased from Congreve.

and lol @ the prom descriptions... unfortunately not terribly far from the truth sometimes (says a 21 year old American college student :p )

regarding the OP, it's never really done it for me, but whatever does it for you...
