Four hands, one piano
on: June 08, 2006, 08:52:32 PM
I made a search but there is only topic 4h 2p,
so can you recommend me some good ( famous ) piece for 4h 1p

I know that Mozart wrote many but cannot find them anywhere
so can you tell me exactly the piece you find very beautifull?

lets say I'm intermediate and my sister is little above that level, so we dont need something "easy", but if you know some easy but beautifull pieces write it down too...

Thank You..

Of course schubert's fantasy in F minor is famous and beautifull. Actually Schubert wrote quite a lot for 4 hands. PM for his recordings en sheet music  :) And I like some pieces of Saint-Saëns (Duettino Op. 11) and Bizet. And try Moszkowski his spanish dances

Mozart wrote quite a few - fmaj is the most famous.  cmaj k502 I think is the hardest (the last one anyhow).  Bizet jeux d'enfants is great fun. The Ravel rhapsodie can be performed on one piano.  otheriwse, there's 'mother goose suite'.  There's a suite by Debussy which I can't remember the name of at the moment.  Faure 'dolly suite'.
Stravinsky sonata (might be for 2 pianos though, can't remember exactly).Petrouschka and Rite of Spring are probably a bit too hard  ;))
There are some by Brahms - like Haydn variations, Schumann variations but they might be 2 pianos - check is you want.  Schumann wrote some music for kids op.100 something (and more) Schubert wrote HEAPS, the march militaires the most popular. (and the fantasy)
Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.
Richard Strauss

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

“He has everything and more – tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that,” as Martha Argerich once said of Daniil Trifonov. To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31. Piano Street’s members are invited to watch the livestream. Read more
