hi, and thank you for reading this. I started playing piano since I was six and it is a great honor to have joined this web site in which everyone talks about music, and especially piano stuff.
Now, my problem is that a young girl asked me to play 2 hours in a reception for her art exhibition and I don't konw what to play.
Would you recommend me some songs that are appropiate for this kind of event?  :)

unless you have a vocalist at your side, I can't recommend any songs for you.

don't play music, play muzak!  do a search on the forum; I remember some threads in the past where everyone named a bunch of boring elevator music that makes good background for when music isnt intended to be the focus of people's attention.

You & your music will probably  be Invisble at this event. It's going to APPEAR classy; that's all.

Tell her to pipe in some recorded music.
If you want, record it yourself then go to the exhibition,  eat shrimp & drink wine.
[i'd also comment to other visitors that the pianist plays spendidly & you wish you knew who it was  ;) ]

There are songs without words.

I would get yourself a book of jazz standards - the Real Book is good if you're familiar with this type of playing, otherwise, you can find some transcriptions somewhere.  "Bench Warmer" is right - you and your music will be more background music ("invisible"), and so I should think you want to make sure that you get paid well for this.

Is music ever visible?
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

Only after the composer writes the notes down on paper. ;)
