Entertainer Scott Joplin
on: December 19, 2003, 12:40:40 PM
Hi
Does anyone know what grade/standard The Entertainer by Scott Joplin is?

I have no idea because I have never done grades and mainly play by ear. I can read music enough to play exactly as the original scott joplin score but have to have a copy of the song on CD to be able to pick up the rythms etc...

I'd say... 6 or 7? all those repeated octaves need good execution. I hope i'm not overestimating..

I haven't seen the original score but if it is too difficult there are many transcriptions of the piece that are really easy

thanks for the feedbacks - i have the original score with all the octaves - i have mastered it now it took two week and i still hit the odd wrong notes on octaves if i play too fast - is that the right AMOUNT OF TIME IT SHOULD TAKE TO LEARN THE WHOLE PICE OFF BY HERAT??

but now i will move onto Maple leaf rag -anyone knbow what grade the original score of that one is
