But I cannot, my goodly Norse friend, for, as I mentioned, I cannot find it on the website you mention and I (rightly or wrongly) assume it to be out of print.

On the other hand, you can listen to the aria for soprano and double bass in my string quintet, since it is not out of print, is on the Altarus label (AIR-CD-9066[3] - a 3-CD boxed set in which you'll find the aria on CD 2) and is available from various sources, including The Sorabji Archive, no less.

So - you have the current advantage over me, methinks...

Best,

Alistair

You name sounds like a cheap rip of of the faboluos Alistar Hanton and makes it difficult for me to trust you. But I will tell you that Sarabji`s book is available in England through a certain Marc Ander Hameline. He is a world-famous double bass player. He is easy to find in London. Just ask anybody on "the street" of you know what I mean. Considering the amount of research you have done on the area I am sure you do.

So just ask Hameline and he will tell you about the book. You will go from being a cheap rip-off of mister Hanton into one of britons finest. I promise yuo :D

If you want more thoruoughly information just mail us(yes we are indeed more than just one person!) at the Sarabji archive or e-mail us at thesarabjiarchive@sarabji.com

I'm very sorry but your information is out of date. Did you not know that Marc Ander Hameline has long since given up double bass playing and become an internationally pianist and composer, most of whose works are published by The Sorabji Archive? I still asked him about the book anyway, but he said that he could tell me nothing because he now thinks that all double bass players should be out of print except Corrado Canonici and so he is just not interested in these things these days.

Not only that, your email address is out of date, too - a quick message sent to it generated the error mmessage
The following message to <thesarabjiarchive@sarabji.com> was undeliverable.
The reason for the problem:
5.1.2 - Bad destination host 'DNS Hard Error looking up sarabji.com (MX):  NXDomain'

Well, we know that Norway is a Bad Destination by anyone's standards and that "DNS" here means "Damned Norwegian Sods", as I am sure you know - and it was the hardest error I know. Maybe you should now start a new thread entitled "What's the Hardest Error Ever Written?"; I'm sure that it would be warmly welcomed on this forum!

Right. Now that's enough of that. Please let us - and me - and the ghost of Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji - jointly and severally (as they say in UK legal circles) congratulate you warmly and joyfully on the coruscating and sometimes hilarious products of your fertile imagination which I know have confused at least some people into thinking that there really IS a composer called "Sarabji"! We have all been entertained very much (expect, perhaps, those who, as I mentioned, have instead been - and reamin - somewhat confused by it all).

Now - "why I support the War in Iraq" (to return briefly to the thread topic) is just so that I can, at least momentarily, escape from the ravages of Norwegian imaginings about that most dangerous mix of Machiavellian musicality and fundamentalist Zoroastrian terrorism.

May I now humbly and respectfully suggest that this area of the topic be allowed to Rasten peace?

Best,

Alistair
