Help, Study Piano College?
on: July 04, 2006, 09:42:19 PM
Okay here is my situation.  I'm 21 have been in and out of college and my GPA is 2.03 right now.  I know I'm smart enough to do it, it's just about finding a place I like and enjoying it.  I got into piano about 1 1/2 years ago and practiced pretty consisntely 1/2 hour a day and built up to 1 hour a day when I wasn't travelling.  Went to a piano camp for 10 days and got up to practicing 4 1/2 hours a day which was a ton but didn't feel like that much by the end of it, though I did get some burnout.

I really enjoy playing piano, so one option I'm considering is going to college to study piano.  I went to UMass amherst which is too big, I'm thinking a smaller school could be good, one just for music.  Any thoughts on a small music school (in a city or other country), would I be able to get in anywhere either now considering my grades are so bad? All help and thoughts appreciated, thanks!

I asked something quite similar a few days ago, and so did another user. The topics are called "what are the possible chances for me?" and "what are the chances for me 2". We got all kind of answers opposite one another. The truth as I see it is that there is no real answer to the matter. I haven't made up my mind yet, and I don't think I ever will. I'll end up choosing a career without ever knowing if it was truly the one for me or not, like most people I presume.

Okay after reading those threads let me refocus the question here.  Making a career out of music isn't an issue I know what sort of shape I'm in for that.  Mainly I'm wondering if given my bad grades and GPA of 2.01 and maybe 30 credits completed at college I'll be able to transfer to a decent music school anywhere? Where/how do I look into music colleges more? I've tried researching it some already with limited success.

Here's a suggeston:
UGA School of Music in Athens, Georgia, USA.
It's really good.
Just got back from there.

Never know, they might accept you!
