Polina Osetinskaya
on: July 06, 2006, 02:21:48 PM
I just got back from Russia, where I was lucky enough to hear Osetinskaya play Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini. It was a breathtaking performance that she followed with 2 encores (something else by Rachmaninov, I thought).
I wasn't familiar with her until I saw her play...does anyone have any thoughts about this talented and beautiful young pianist?

She seems to have quite an ego on her, she claimed to have learnt the 24th Caprice of Paganini in one week, having never played the violin before. I find this a ridiculous claim no matter how talented she is. As for her pianism, I have only heard her Rach 2 which was alright but didn't leave me thinking that I had heard something really special. She is nice to look at though.

I have her recording of the Mozart c minor Concerto. It's very good.
