Well Tempered Clavier editions
on: July 07, 2006, 01:01:04 AM
When I printed out the edition of the Well Tempered Claiver that is on
https://www.sheetmusicarchive.com
and took it to my teacher, she asked me which edition is this, and I didn't know
(What a shameful situation )
She didn't like it and she told me about this edition done by someone called
Bruno Muggelini
. She said she used this and all her teachers and students back in St. Petersburg conservatory used to. So, does anybody have any information about this Muggelini edition or any other good editions.
One last thing, What is that edition at sheetmusicarchive ??

My teacher asked me the same question about this edition. I had no clue.
But about this edition: it contains too many errors (both note and rhythm ones), too many additions and really poor fingerings. Stay away from this.
But I have no idea. My teacher mentioned that it might be the one edited by Busoni. I still had no clue.

In Croatia a lot of people work WTK using Mugellini-he wrote everything just to help students to play better-he wrote tempos, fingering a he wrote "T" for all themes and so on... but the fact is that this edition is Mugellini's own vision and interpretation of Bach- it's not yours.. so I recomend Wiener Urtext edition where you can find some fingering but where everything is clear-the same as in original..
