CUKAS

Hi, i am starting my applications to UK conservatoires, and there is a system similar to the University application, where you apply through a company called CUKAS. I was once told this was dodgey by a pianist in a competition, but i cant remember why he said this. can anyone enlighten my and tell me if it is ok to go through this or if i should apply to the conservatoires individually. CUKAS saves a lot of money, because you pay a one off smaller fee rather than large audition fees to each conservatoire.

Im applying this year aswell, and as far as i can tell, application for all UK conservatoires except the RAM is done through CUKAS now.  Im not sure you can actually apply directly anymore.  You still have to pay audition fees (about £50 a go).

I've been to a few open days and everyone's said so far that the new system works pretty well, i dont think theres anything wrong with it.

ok, thanks for the info. i was hoping CUKAS would save a bit of money (like UCAS) with auditions and stuff. oh well.

Also applying this year. Yupo, CUKAS is really the only way now, UCAS only deals with Universities. As far as I'm aware, there are no problems whatsoever with CUKAS.
