What is the focus of your life ?
on: July 13, 2006, 04:37:13 AM
I have realized the desire for my life to have one single underlying focus, one primary purpose.  Do you feel that your life has this ?  To be a bit cheesy, something like the ocean where all of your rivers and streams flow to and become one.

Is the focus of your life you ?

sometimes it is me (usually), but then i think 'what did God make my knees for?'  (especially after i messed one up).  Then i thought - oh, yes.  knees are for worshipping God.  you see, people in the middle east who take worship very seriously (both arabs and jews) but for the average Christian - it is easier to watch a sermon on tv and think you know God.  for me, i'm realizing my knees are the connection to the telephone line to God.  did you realize that abraham (right before he died) got up off his bed and kneeled.  when i read that, i thought - 'what a lazy bum i am'  here i used to have two good knees and i mostly used them to bicycle etc - but found i rarely had a long time i spent on my knees in prayer to God.  Sometimes i would pray whilst doing the dishes - but the focus can get blurry.  You look out the window and start thinking of the rest of the day - and then say 'oops, got distracted.  sorry God - amen.'

I think people kind of need to be taught about prayer.  For one thing, i have to find a quiet place - which is hard to find in my house.  About the only time it's quiet is 5 am - which if i get up that early - my first step is towards the computer and pianostreet.  But, then when i think about it - i'm sort of ignoring God.  He's like a love.  You don't just get up out of bed and forget to kiss them.  So, for me, - my way of acknowledging God would be to wake up - get on my knees and say 'God, thanks for the good nights' sleep.  I love you...'  even if it ended there - it would probably be ok with Him.  I just think He doesn't like to be ignored.

(this is my personal take on focus)  whenever i pray first - my day ALWAYS goes well.  I can't explain this to anyone else very well - but for me it is a reality.  Even if somehting difficult comes up - i know how to handle it.  When i don't pray - the focus of my life becomes very selfish.  I just want things my way.

Somehow I couldn't help but notice that your post here was just that bit shorter than the immediately previous one; no value judgements here, mind, but I just thought that I'd mention it...

one thing i have noticed about thal is that he is outward thinking.  i mean, he's shared a lot of music and takes extra time on other people.  this is not that separate from the gospel.  it may be the 'gospel of thal' right now - but it's definitely working.

I, too, would love to hear this recipe for fun!

And while you are at it, do you happen to have a recipe for healing?

no...he doesn't have that one - but he has been ressurrected after a stabbing according to some old pictures.  it was a magic show - though - so i wouldn't put much into it.  (you can see the knife between his arm and body).

**i'm still wondering if he did use the bible to head away mug coasters that mysteriously disappeared and reappeared in other places.  some suggested that simply placing a bible nearby did not do a thing - but why else do they put them in hotel rooms.

there are two greatest days of your life: the day you were born and the day you find out why.

my focus in life is to keep that search for my purpose continuously coz i believe that the only time i'll know what i was born for is the time i die and leave this life... that's why man is never contented and keeps on searching. so i guess to keep on searching for my purpose is the best way to keep everything interesting.:)

the johnson o'connor test might not be of much use to you.  (it's an aptitude thing).  they say aptitudes are different from interests.  say, a person is in a dead- end job and they think it's what they're supposed do until toward the end of their life and then they take this $600. aptitude test and find out they lived their life the wrong way.  (some of this testing is one -on -one).

my mother made me laugh when she said one person took it and found nothing the first day - and only in the afternoon the second day did they show any promise.  i wonder if anyone has taken the test and failed to have any aptitudes at all.

it would really kill me if i took that test and found out that music wasn't my thing.  i couldn't bear the pain.  i'd ask for second opinions and try to make it work.

The aquasition of wealth is one of the most important things in life alongside music.
And I base this simply on the fact that I am happier with money than without- Which makes my music more jolly  :)

money + piano=good music /upbeat ;D
No money+piano= depressed music

They say stress is a killer I don't think I will live very long ::)

Dear m1469, dear Forumites,

No purpose in my life, no goal. One direction - straight ahead (dixit the philosophical Kool & The Gang).  As far as I know, life has no meaning.  Same for art, art is pointless.  And that's what makes life so unique.
Love... that's ok with me, but  I can hardly call that a goal, a sense or a purpose.  I have no particular ambitions.  I feel love in the air, I try to have a loveable approach with the things, with food and materials.  I don't like waste or hurry.  I think I'm grateful to life though I would like to be more grateful.  I love drinking a glass of water when I wake up, I love feeling the sun on my skin.  And when I can hold my girlfriend in my arms, I sometimes feel something that I call - maybe somewhat awkward - happiness.  I also love stones, plants and animals.  I love life in general and in particular.
I don't love life especially.  It's often a total, overwhelming experience.  Sometimes I think life is too much for me.  The boring, the universe, all the people, the violence... But there's nothing else.  Except life and pianoforum and... yes, you.

Kindly

My focus is just getting through each day. It can be such a struggle.

So many hurdles to overcome, so many mountains to push your boulders up. So little time.

Bach almost persuades me to be a Christian.

For healing, I am a great believer in the power of crystals.

Search on the internet and check it out.

I don't know why, but it worked for me. Physical and mental scars.
