folding table

ok.  if u have a cramped laundry room - u may find this discovery as interesting as me.  actually, my son should patent the idea - because he came up with it.  two narrow tables that fold down from each side of the wall and meet in the middle.  one to rest on the washer and one on the dryer.  padded underneath.  then, there is this huge amount of work space - and u can fold it up again when done.

what do u think?  will it accidentally come down and kill the person doing laundry?

oh.  yes.  very funny.  (well, i did wonder about it)  say the washer and dryer start shaking the room around - and shake the little doodad that holds it on the wall.  bang.  out cold on the floor.

Use a spring or a latch to keep it secure when it's up. Then, of course, there  is always the ubiquitous Duct Tape.

Or........ wear a Hard Hat! ;)

we have plenty of duct tape and i do have a bicycle helmet i could wear.  but, then my husband might fall more deeply in love with me.  you see - he always has wires and attachments coming out from pockets and bag.  it's his signature.  people wonder when we pass them on our bikes.  i am riding with minimum accoutriments - he has the radio strapped to the back of his bike - snacks, keys, wallet, bike pump.  of course, whenever we have a problem - he's always got the cell phone, too.

maybe a spring loaded latch of some kind.  hmm.  have to look into this.

Have a magnetic catch (like on a fridge) :)

or build a unit for your washer and elevate it to utilise the space underneath. Proberbly an unorthodox aproach but it is only on a laundry room and using a stool may not be such a burden.
They are designed to fit under a 900 unit so if up to chamber joist height it would be approx-head hight to bottom leaving space for (an upright piano/Grand ;D

Ironing board space beneath /computer whatever
