I, myself, think that maybe this thread is completely useless. :(

Oh, great, I'm criticizing meself.
Honestly (to myself) I think that this is the most worthless post I have ever made.

This is one of your better topics.

I was wrong about the string quartet, I then thought it was an amount of people playing a certain instrument, like with an orchestra, but it is also a music form.

Don't take offence, but I have to ask. What's with the incessant stream of pointless poll-taking threads? Are you actually interested in peoples' answers, or do you just like getting responses?

I prefer art with circular, rather than linear structure, which is why I like sonatas more than symphonies and concertos.

Is Toccata considered a form?  If not, then it'd have to be Etude
Interested in discussing:

-Prokofiev Toccata
-Scriabin Sonata 2

If I had to choose just one, I would say the Nocturne is my favourite form.

Vote for Chamber Music.  That includes string quartets.  :)  Personally I like piano trios best!

 Boys and Girls!
The main problem with this topic is a misconception or misunderstanding of both form and genre. Let me quote the Grove Dictionary of Music:
Form - "The constructive or organizing element in music."
Genre - "A class, type or category, sanctioned by convention."
So, in the list presented, there are basically genres, not forms. Furthermore, the only forms in the list are Sonata, Fugue, Variations and Rondo (and the former two are genres as well). The Ballad and the Prelude sometimes are considered forms: the first in the context of medieval music (for instance) and the later by some theorists (a "free" form). Notice that in Chopin neither is a form.
To clarify, let us take some Chopin as example. Of the Preludes (one of the genres he composed), there is an incredible variety of forms: # 9 is a one-part form; # 20 is a binary form; # 15 is a ternary one; and so on.
Another example: sonatas opus 13 and 26, by Herr Beethoven. The same genre (sonata) but very very different forms.
 Best wishes!
