Car accident
on: July 16, 2006, 02:15:06 AM
Today i experienced something i never thought i would ever.I got in a car accident!!! It happened like so quick and my side got hit.I was sitting in the front seat and bammm there it was.The accident happened by Sellman Road over there by the shopping center with that old Circuit City.My mother was making a turn and the car in the 3rd lane couldn't see us, so it was a blind spot, and so she hit us...I saw it so i threw my arm over my head to "protect" it and leaned against my mother. My brother was in the back seat. The both of them hurt the worst and i dont understand why i dont since the car hit my side.My head hurts like sh*t though.I thank God im still alive though cuz you never know which day could be your last. The car wasn't messed up that bad but the fire fighters had to use "the jaws of life to get me out cuz they didnt want me to move any part of my body.So they destroyed that side of the car.The doctor gave me sum motrin for the head ache and whiplash. This was the worst thing yet that happened to me.I actually cryed  :'( cuz i thought i was going to die i was really shaken up about it.I hope no one else has to go thru anything else like this.

instromp, good to know you're all in one piece! I am fortunate enough not to have been involved in a bad car accident, it is a very traumatising thing to experience. it is no wonder you cried.
i hope you feel better, your head, your neck, your piece of mind.
take it easy my man. if you're shaken up speak to someone about it.
how badly are your mother and brother hurt? hope they're ok.
all sounds very scary, i hope you dont have to go through it ever again.

Thankyou for your support Gilad...Yes, the image of the other car crashing into ours is still going thru my mind, im trying not to keep thinking about it.My neck doesn't hurt as bad  as my head does, but that might change in the morning since the real pain will start tomorrow :-\ My mother has pain in her right leg and has bad headache just as i do,my brother hurt his neck worst than I did and has the headache too and injured his knee, so it is wrapped in Ace bandage.we also have whiplash, hurts like h*ll.Those motrin should take care of the pain though.....I hope ::)

I was in a near fatal car accident in my last year of highschool. A drunk driver hit me and my best friend side on at around 110 km/h and tore the back half of the small Suzuki swift away (thank god we had no one in the back), we spun out of control probably 2 or 3 times and smashed into a light post. It was terribly noisy, that is the thing that lasted with me the most, the noise, the slow motion of it all. I thank God I am alive, my time wasn't t up yet!

I think these experiences wake us up a little, make us realise how fragile life is and how easily things can tip over the other way. I have had friends and family die in accidents, it is a terrible loss, sometimes it can simply seem such a stupid way to go, makes me realise how one second of inattention can cost you your life. The fact that you leaned over probably saved your life.

The noise of the crash just lingers in my brain, and so does the impact..
I thank god too..I realised how anything can happen just like that and then your gone, thats why you must make everyday your best. This experience changed me 4 the best i think.I havent lost any fam or friends 2 car accidents and hope i dont.I was thinking the same thing, that if i havent leaned over against my mom, that i would have taken all damage and be worse off than i am.

don't be embarrassed to wear that neck brace for awhile until ur completely healed.  hope that the whiplash on all of u will heal well.  i once had a sledding accident when very young and hit my back really hard.  i was going down a steep hill on one of those round saucers -spinning around and hit a fence at the bottom straight on with my back. somehow, the vertebre just fused and actually made my middle back stronger.  i know it sounds strange, but thankGod, my back never gave me any problem.

all i got was tylenol, too.  i complained a little.  rested a lot.

there's not a whole lot u can do yet - i mean you don't want to try surgery until you see if everything will just heal on it's own.  the best thing you can do for broken bones is not to move around a lot and just chill for a while.  keep that neck thing on.  it's probably a real pain - but like casting - gets the bones in the right location.  don't know about ur mother and brother - but they may like the bone marrow that comes in some restaurants onion soup.  it made me feel better anyway - even it doesn't do anything.  it makes u feel like the marrow might help the stuff that goes between your bones regenerate.  i've heard that gelatine is good too - so eat some jello.

prayers for you and ur family! susan

ps good idea about putting ur hands up.  hope that insurance works out a new car for ur mom quickly.

The important thing is that you and your family are OK.

I have only been in 1 bad car accident and it took my mind as long to heal as my body.

Chill and heal.

Thank you Susan and Thal.

They said we all have whiplash, but my neck isnt bothering me,it's mostly my back and my head.I dont have any broken bones, which i am glad for.I had a neck brace on when i was in the hospital and i think that hurt more than my neck was at the time.Im just going to relax as much as possible now. Thanks for your prayers.

glad to hear you're ok:) i was in a car accident when i was 6, and amazingly not wearing my seatbelt saved my life! (got thrown out of the window and fractured my skull and pelvis, but that's a hell of a lot better than being crushed my a car fridge...). my big sis died...so now 15yrs on it still freaks me out and is probably the most vivid childhood memory i have, and it pisses me off when my friends drive irresponsibly i'm like for the love of god just look after yourself and everyone else!
but yeah, hope you and your family recover well, best wishes xo

im sorry to hear this. i think i know how you feel (but not in terms of a car accident). When i get caught up in a big fight with hoodies, i get chills going through me when i think back of after each time it happens. I hope your family is well and you get back on your feet quick.
