Best Sites Online to Order Music
on: July 19, 2006, 01:31:31 AM
I usually order from tismusic.com, but surprisingly they don't have what I am looking for this time.  Which sites do you think are the best for odering piano scores online?

Most of the time I order from sheetmusicplus.com.  It's not discounted usually but they do sometimes have monthly specials on certain music publishers like 20% off Peters or Henle.  Budget shipping via USPS media mail is $3 regardless of the size of the order.

The other site I found and purchased from recently is music44.com.  They discount music just a little bit and is cheaper.  And free shipping on orders over $59 via USPS media mail.  The search function is not very good, though.

i've been to a headquarters office in paoli and just browsed.  it was fun.  lots of piano AND choral and jazz.  browsing makes you spend more money than you were planning.

www.burtnco.com has EVERYTHING you'd ever want. Their customer service is great - they respond to emails the same day or the next day, and always go out of their way to help you with whatever you need (so if you can't find sheetmusic through the search funtion, email them and they'll give you the catalogue number).

Their prices can be steep, but if you order 10 or more items at once, you become a discount customer for life. Amazon still has better rates on Dover editions, but for rarer sheetmusic, there's no better place to buy from.

Ya but sheetmusic plus is hella slow!!!  It took 4 months for my Etude Tableaux B& H to arrive, and I ordered Italian Concerto/Danzas Argentinas 6 weeks ago and still hasn't arrived [they said they sent it out 4 days ago].....  I'm still using photocopies for both  :-\

I have always used sheetmusicplus.  They have always been very fast for me, but perhaps it is because I live very close to where they ship from- San Francisco

Boosey & Hawkes in from England.  They probably order it from their supplier but they did not have it in stock so then the supplier had to order it from the Company which means a significantly longer wait.  That's why it's "hella slow".  It happened to me once because it was a difficult score to octain and it was printed in France.

Normally, if SheetMusicPlus has it in stock, I get it within 5 days because they are located across the bay.

I second burtnco.com. I'm a discounted customer, and since I live about 6 hours away, the music is always here in 2 days.

burtnco.com gets my vote, too. I'm a discounted customer in South Jersey amd I get  most of my orders in one or two days. And their clearance section (up to 40% off) has provided some great deals.

The British Library takes a month and charges minimum £30 for a A3 photocopy.

But on the plus side, they do have a few scores to choose from.
