How exactly do you put on a concert
on: July 27, 2006, 12:51:52 AM
I just moved to San Francisco and i'm wanting to put on a show...a concert.  I have no idea how to go about it.  Do I get an agent?  A manager?  Get a record label to sign me?  Thanks.

Call the place where you want to perform, chat it up with the manager and cross your fingers.
Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro

Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata

Indeed. The stupid thing is, mostly YOU have to pay to play there. You are bringing people, you are giving a concert, ... but you have to pay for that. In my opinion the people from the place where you are playing have to pay YOU.
This happens never to me  :'(
Currently learing:
- Chopin: Ballade No.3
- Scriabin: Etude Op. 8 No. 2
- Rachmaninoff: Etude Op. 33 No. 6
- Bach: P&F No 21 WTC I

Well I can see that starting out, there is a price to pay.  But as time goes by, the fee goes down and hopefully reverses itself toward your income.

Lostinidlewonder has written some incredibly detailed and useful posts on just this subject. :D  Unfortunately I do not have the threads :'(. Do a search using his name. Hopefully, he may read this and direct you.

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
