Need help with fingering
on: December 30, 2003, 02:12:23 PM
Liszt's "Feux Follets" - Quite a bit too hard for me to put it lightly.  Trying a bit won't do any harm though

Question:   What fingering do you use for the first three bars?  (My right hand can reach a 9th)

Here's what it looks like(the copyright has expired on book):

Help would be greatly appreciated.

p.s.  just now posted it under wrong section of forum,  so reposting it here because more relevant

I haven't played this one, getting score... can your left hand reach a minor ninth? If so than no problem, arpeggiate & hold LH, take the first G with thumb, I don't see how RH span is relevant, it's just a chromatic scale-type thing, use your favorite chromatic fingering. No it's not... I'm at my computer keyboard reading... here is what I suggest for RH:
1212342312(3)12341234 etc... actually you should figure this part out for yourself, different hands have different preference for chromatic stuff, based on hand size and stuff. Just keep it legato. Good luck! Always harmless to experiment with the hard stuff.

...unless it's Rach 3...

The picture doesn't show on my screen, just checking are you referring to the Transcendental Etude #5? I think I'm looking at the wrong piece.

Yep  #5 is the right piece.

I will try that fingering as soon as I have time .  Thanks.
