Thalberg Etudes Op.26
on: July 29, 2006, 11:37:30 PM
I recently came across the music for all 12 of these pieces. Are they any good? Any particular ones stand out? If so, is there someone here who has recordings of the etudes and is willing to post them?

a friend of mine played several of them recently and enjoyed them very much.  he also said that they're not as hard as you would think.  i'll ask him if he recorded any of them (he's a very good pianist).
if you record them, i'd like to hear it too.

According to the discography list on the Thalberg Study Centre website, they have never been recorded, so it would be nice if somebody did.

I have not studied these, but a quick glance would appear to show that they are more Czerny then Chopin.

Far better are the Op70 L'art du Chant, which i am working on at the moment.

Composers like Thalberg are better in transcription.
