The future of technology
on: August 04, 2006, 08:14:57 PM
What kind of technology do you think we will be using in 10, 20 50 years from now? Do you think we will become cyborgs with chips in our brains to speed up brain functioning? DNA manipulation? Will we conduct all communication through a computer? Will robots be able to play musoc better than humans?  Will the Government with better spy technolog monitor its citezens in unparrled activity?

Will robots be able to play music better than humans?

This is one thing that I think/hope will never happen.

However, there are some pianists that play like robots.

I think that robots will be able to do more domestic chores, but if you have got a woman in the house, you would not need one anyway.

No though the concept of re-programing the brain has been round for a number of years. This re-programing does include the use of technology.

Well for starters we'll be cloning embryos, not only for therapeutic but reproductive purposes. A cloned human will become as acceptable as IVF babies are.

Technology will move more and more towards the nano-scale, so we'll see smaller and smaller devices.

Gene technology will produce super athletes, designer babies and tailored medical treatment.

We'll see more of an interface between human brains and computers and big developments in robotic body parts. This is good news for the disabled.

New virtual communities and languages (like pregnant cat) will evolve, internet searches will become faster and more efficient.

Surveillance will increase massively and everything about us will be logged and tracked from the coffin to the grave.

There will be massive increases in military technology.

Predicted duds: stem cell research and space travel.

Well, there's the one bit of good news in this entire scenraio; after all, that's not so very far, is it? - and it happens only when we're dead anyway, so we'd not suffer as a result (although I think you probably meant "from the cradle to the grave" - assuming that, in the world that you predict, cradles and graves still exist).

I think that robots will be able to do more domestic chores, but if you have got a woman in the house, you would not need one anyway.
What's wrong with using a dishwasher, as I do? (except for decent glassware and things that are too large to fit into it) And, come to that, what's wrong with a man doing the dishes? - especially (see "The Death of Men" thread) if he is married to "pianistimo" (which, incidentally, for the record, I am not)...
