Scriabin's 'patetico'
on: August 08, 2006, 11:21:04 PM
In Scribain's Etude in D# minor no.12 op.8, it is marked as patetico. Now, I don't really grasp what is meant by patetico. Is it a tempo marking ?? or just a performance indication ?? Does it mean to play it pathetically or what??

Thanks.

I think, 'poignant' in the sense of keen, sharp, piercing, painful, heartrending

is the apropriate  translation for 'patetico' in this case.
If it doesn't work - try something different!
