Help with Rach prelude op32 no.5
on: August 11, 2006, 11:53:49 AM
Hi, i just have a quick question about the timing of the right hand with the left hand.  Its not clear on my score where exactly each note in the right hand melody lies with the left hand, and i cannot work it out from recording either. As far as i can see, the first note (F) in the right hand lies just before the B in the left hand quintuplet, the E on the first of the quintuplet and the D in the right hand lies on G (fourth note of the quintuplet). That was just taking Bar 2. Can someone tell me if this is right? if not, where do they sit?

The first one is 2 against 5 and the next is 3 against 5. You have the positions correct exept the last D wich is actually a bit after the G in the quintuplet. Try not to think so much about positions but more about the flow of the notes, that first note of the quintuplet is a great reference point, just aim towards it and feel the notes flow :)
