Easy Sonatinas
on: August 13, 2006, 07:43:56 PM
I'm looking for some very easy sonatinas, along the lines of Lynn Freeman Olson Beginning Sonatinas, or Denes Agay's See-Sonata, ect. I know that there has to be more than that, so if you know of any collections, pieces by any composers let me know.

Sonatina 5 (that's how it's listed in our free sheet music site, here at PS) by Beethoven.
You can also download the actual music here, as well.
It's very, very pretty and very easy.
What's more, while playing this piece, a kid might well get the feeling she's making some grown-up music.
Go get it!

What's even cuter about all this is...
The piece is in G Major (as you will see in the key signature), but in the sheet music. beneath the title, we are told it is "
In G glat Major
." (Unless they fix it before you download.)
You can turn that to your advantage by calling attention to the miscue and reminding the student that everyone, even smart people, young and old, make mistakes.

There is a Beethoven sonatina in G. I don't remember the opus number. It is very nice. It is in 2 movements.
What's interesting about it is that it is not ridiculously easy like other sonatinas. It has some tricks that u should take care of. But It is not a sonata too !!!!
Also, you can look for Kuhlau's sonatinas. There are so many of them and most of them are very good.

I think lisztianick is probably referring to Beethoven's Sonatina No. 37 In G Major, Anh. 5.

Sonatinas by William Gillock and by Dennis Alexander (bks 1 and 2). These are beautiful pieces.

Take a look at some of the sonatinas by Lichner (op. 4, 49 and 66) and Diabelli (op. 151 and 168).
